TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fifteen foreigners involved in the 2022 MotoGP pre-season test at Mandalika Circuit, Central Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province, have tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently in isolation.

"They consist of officials, journalists, and vendors. However, they are asymptomatic," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto informed at a virtual press conference on Monday.

The pre-season test, which took place from February 11–13, 2022, was implemented under a bubble system to curb the transmission of COVID-19, he noted.

"The pre-season test was held safely and smoothly without any significant surge of COVID-19 cases. It proved that the bubble system should continue to be applied," Hartarto, who is also the coordinator for community activity restrictions (PPKM) outside Java and Bali regions, said.

The vaccination coverage in the province has continued to increase, he added.

Even the first dose coverage for all target groups in the province’s capital, Mataram city, has been crossed 114 percent as of February 14, 2022, he said.

"While the second dose coverage in Mataram city is 81.4 percent. Meanwhile, the coverage of first and second vaccination in Central Lombok district have reached 90.82 percent and 68 percent, respectively,” the coordinating minister added.

Thus, the overall vaccination in the province has reached 90.26 percent for the first vaccination and 61.4 percent for the second one, he said.

“We will continue to improve the coverage ahead of the implementation of MotoGP Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia on March 18–20, 2022,” he added.

The international racing event will also implement a bubble system in accordance with COVID-19 Task Force’s Circular Letter Number 5/2022 on the Bubble System Health Protocol for the 2022 MotoGP Activity in Mandalika amid the COVID-19 Pandemic, which was issued on February 3, 2022, he informed.

The racers, registered officials, and invited guests will enter Lombok Island through Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Lombok International Airport and undergo a PCR test upon arrival, he said.

They will be escorted directly to their respective lodgings and placed in self-isolation before taking the second PCR test following which they will be allowed to carry out their activities, he added.
