TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS) researcher Pingkan Audrine Kosijungan said Friday she believed that Indonesia’s presidency in this year’s G20 event will be able to accelerate the realization of digital transformation and provide a positive effect for a more inclusive digital economy.

“The G20 Presidency must accelerate Indonesia’s domestic digital transformation policies through the deliberation of the Personal Data Protection Bill and pass it into Law and do the co-regulation process,” she said on February 11, Antaranews reported.

The researcher believes that Indonesia’s digital economy rapid development has contributed to the expansion of the use of electronic means to distribute, store and utilize the personal data of domestic users.

“As a country that benefits from digitalization amidst the pandemic, digital economy innovation needs to be supported by adequate regulations,” said the CIPS researcher.
