TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) is monitoring the emergence of tropical cyclone 91W in Sulu Sea which borders Sulawesi Sea. The cyclone seeds formed a convergence area extending from the waters of the southern Philippines to Sulu Sea.

The convergence area was also observed stretching from the Malacca Strait to the western waters of Aceh, from the southern Sunda Strait to Central Java, from Central Kalimantan to the Makassar Strait, from North Kalimantan to the eastern waters of East Kalimantan, and from the Biak waters to the southern part of Sorong.

According to the agency, this condition could possibly increase the potential for rain cloud growth around the tropical cyclone area and along the convergence area. The agency released an early warning of heavy rains, lightning, and strong winds today, Jan. 27, for some regions.

They are North Sumatra, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, and Bali.

The BMKG’s early warning also applies to NTB, NTT, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Maluku, and West Papua.
