TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - International race MotoGP in Mandalika will adopt a travel bubble scheme for all parties involved in the event. Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said the race will continue under strict health protocols amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Despite Omicron, I'd say the show must go on. We've prepared the travel bubble scheme with full awareness and concern for the racers, crews, officials, and others involved in the event," said Sandiaga in his statement on Monday, January 24.

The travel bubble that will be used is the same as the one tested for Singaporean tourists. Those involved in the race must be PCR tested upon departure and arrival. Their activities are also limited in Mandalika.

The visitors, meanwhile, will not be imposed with the travel bubble requirements as Sandiaga predicted that 90% of them are locals (Indonesians). "The technical matters will be based on the circular letter stating strict protocols for hosting the event. As for the spectators, they are free to roam West Nusa Tenggara (NTB)."

Regarding the quarantine mechanism, Sandiaga said it will be adjusted to recent conditions.

According to the minister, NTB is set to host Mandalika MotoGP from March 18 to 20 as their first and second dose vaccinations rates are 100% and 70%, respectively.
