Indonesia Sees Over 1,000 News Cases; 9 Deaths

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia continues to rise with daily infections exceeding 1,000. As of noon today, January 18, 1,362 new cases were recorded over the last 24 hours.

To date, Indonesia has logged a total of 4,273,783 Covid-19 cases since the new coronavirus was first detected in the country in early March 2020.

The Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force today also reported 564 additional recoveries today to bring the number of Indonesia's Covid survivors to 4,120,036.

The number of patients who died from Covid-19 today increased by 9, raising the nation's coronavirus casualties to 144,183.

In addition to positive cases, the government is also monitoring 5,132 people suspected of having contracted the virus and examining 278,927 specimens.
