Indonesia Temporarily Closes Door for Countries with Omicron Infections

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has decided to temporarily deny travelers from countries that have confirmed a local transmission of the SARS CoV-2 B.1.1.529, or Omicron.

There are 14 countries that will make the list under the Circular No.1/2022 overseeing health protocols on international travel during the pandemic. This will be made effective starting on January 7, 2022.

Among the 14 countries some are South Africa, Botswana, Norway, France, United Kingdom, and Denmark which have confirmed community transmission of the Omicron variant.

Other countries considered to be geographically close to the community transmission of the new variant mentioned in the Circular also includes: Angola, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, and Lesotho.
