Indonesia Detects 3 New Omicron Cases

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Indonesia has reported three fresh COVID-19 cases of the Omicron variant. To date, there are eight cases of the new coronavirus variant.
The three new cases are travelers from Congo and Malaysia who are undergoing mandatory quarantine at Wisma Atlet. A spokesperson for the Health Ministry Siti Nadia Tarmizi confirmed the news via a text message on Thursday, December 23.
In total, eight confirmed cases of the Omicron variant have been recorded in the country. The first patient is a janitor working at the Wisma Atlet quarantine center in Kemayoran, who was exposed to the virus from a Nigerian citizen quarantined there. The other two cases are travelers from South America and the UK. Both are also being quarantined in Wisma Atlet.
Last Tuesday, the government confirmed two new cases that came from travelers from London.
The government continues to encourage the public to reduce mobility and remain disciplined in complying with the health protocols and not to travel overseas unless for urgent matters.
