TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian held a meeting for the preparation of public activity restrictions (PPKM) during the Christmas and New Year holidays. In the meeting, Tito instructed regional heads to reactivate Covid-19 Task Forces in neighborhood units RT and RW.

"[Tito instructed to] reactivate the Covid-19 Task Force in each neighborhood, starting from the provincial level to RT/RW," North Jakarta Deputy Mayor Juaini Yusuf said in a written statement, Wednesday, December 8.

According to Juaini, Tito Karnavian also gave three other instructions. The first one is for local governments to accelerate vaccine rollouts in order to reach the 70-percent target by the end of December 2021, particularly for the elderly and children between the age of 6 and 11.

The second instruction is to implement stricter health protocols, and the third is for local governments to coordinate with regional leadership coordination forums (forkopimda) and other stakeholders to enforce discipline.

"We will support the instructions given by the Home Affairs Minister in mobilizing people to enter the Christmas and New Year's," Juaini said.
