TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday arrived in Bali’s mangrove conservation forest which is scheduled to become one of the future locations for the series of G20 presidency events in 2022.

He said the location was chosen as it will reinstate Indonesia’s commitment in tackling climate change issues by rehabilitating mangrove forests, restoring peatlands and critical land areas in the country.

“We will show that Indonesia is strongly committed to climate change and it will also display Indonesia’s seriousness in restoring mangrove forests, rehabilitating peatlands, and our critical land,” said the President after supervising the location.

Joko Widodo believes Indonesia will be able to visualize the country’s actual commitment towards climate change in the G20 presidency of 2022.

Apart from visiting the mangrove conservation forest, President Jokowi is also set to conduct local visits to make sure that preparations on public facilities such as road infrastructures, sidewalks, and bridges are up to par in Nusa Dua.
