TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto at his office on Tuesday met with French Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian in a bilateral meeting that mainly talked about the follow up of strategic partnerships between Indonesia and France.

Both defense ministers signed a bilateral cooperation in June this year overseeing the countries’ defense sectors, which the Defense Ministry explained oversee intelligence, military training and education, science and technology, and defense industry.

The two countries agreed to cooperate on peacekeeping forces, combating terrorism as well as the development and research of the defense industry, including joint production, Antaranews reported.

On a separate occasion, Defense Deputy Minister Lieutenant General M. Herindra welcomed the visit of Danish Foreign Affairs Minister Jeppe Kofod, which he hoped would strengthen and improve the bilateral defense relationship between the countries.

Denmark and Indonesia had long collaborated in the field of defense, such as the 2017-2020 Plan of Action (POA) committed at the 3rd Indonesia-Denmark bilateral forum under the Indonesian foreign affairs ministry.

The partnership in the defense industry is also marked by the contract signing for Electronic Support Measures (ESM) of six Indonesian Navy vessels in August of 2021.
