TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency on Wednesday reported an additional 130 cases of Covid-19 from a testing batch of 15,629 specimens.

Head of the agency’s disease prevention and control Dwi Oktavia said 47 percent or 61 cases of the new cases came from Indonesian migrant workers arriving from overseas. They are undergoing mandatory health quarantine.

“The quarantine process is the central government’s policy to curb the spread of the virus from overseas sources entering Indonesia,” said Dwi Oktavia at the health agency headquarters on November 17.

She said the agency has actively monitored visitors. Those who tested positive will be subjected to whole genome sequencing (WGS) tests to detect any possible mutated viruses or variants of concern.

Citing the health agency’s data, the spread of positive Covid-19 cases based on areas are as follows: South Jakarta (24 cases/18.46 percent), North Jakarta (13 cases/10 percent), East Jakarta (12 cases/9.23 percent), West Jakarta (11 cases/846 percent), Central Jakarta (9 cases/6.92 percent), and outside of Jakarta areas or migrant workers (61 cases/46.92 percent).

Most of Covid-19 cases in the capital city involve those aged 19-59 years with 110 cases, while patients aged 60 and above constitute 8.46 percent (11 cases).
