TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - SOE Minister Erick Thohir said that Sarinah Department Store will be opened again in March 2022. The first department store building in Indonesia will be reopened after months of renovation.

Erick also told of this plan to Hussain A. Jaber, owner of the Al Jaber shopping chain, who visited the Indonesian MSME products display at Al Jaber Dubai Mall in Burj Khalifa, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Erick also revealed his plan to invite Hussain Jaber for the reopening of Sarinah next year.

"We invite you to Indonesia, because we are actually reopening Sarinah in March. Maybe we can invite [Hussain A. Jaber]," Erick said in his official Instagram account @erickthohir in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 9.

Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir revealed that the inauguration and reopening of the Sarinah Building after the renovation was postponed to early 2022.

Erick wants Sarinah to sell and market local products or brands, but Sarinah must also have overseas marketing channels by collaborating with world-renowned duty-free retailer Dufry.
