TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - New Zealand through the COVAX Facility donated 684,400 doses of AstraZeneca for Indonesia. The vaccine arrived on Monday, October 25.

This batch is the latest of New Zealand's contribution to help Indonesia control the pandemic.

"This additional vaccine donation to Indonesia is New Zealand's most significant contribution outside the Pacific, reflecting New Zealand's development partnership with Indonesia and New Zealand's commitment to creating a safe, healthy, resilient environment," New Zealand Ambassador Kevin Burnett said.

Over the last 18 months, New Zealand has donated NZ$12.7 million to assist Indonesia in battling Covid-19. The assistance funds are used for, among others, prevention and risk communication, vaccine procurement, PCR testing capabilities, PPE shipment, and increasing genome sequencing capacity with the Eijkman Institute.

New Zealand has also donated 100 units of non-invasive Airvo 2 ventilators from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare in July 2021, when cases in Indonesia soared.
