TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government applied stringent restrictions for airline passengers boarding Java - Bali flights by mandating passengers to have vaccine certificates and a negative PCR test result. These requirements must be met to board any commercial airline amid Indonesia's public activity restriction (PPKM).
Covid-19 task force spokesperson Wiku Adisasmito explained on Thursday, October 21, 2021, that the tighter restriction comes after the government has allowed airlines to open 100 percent seating capacity.
He added that PCR test results are made mandatory after physical distancing is no longer applied and that PCR test has the highest standard compared to antigen rapid tests in the effort to contain the spread of Covid-19.
"To optimize the viral spread prevention, airlines are required to prepare three rows of seats used to accommodate passengers who show symptoms during a flight," said Wiku Adisasmito.
This PCR testing requirement is overseen under the Covid-19 task force official circular No.21/2021 and the latest Home Affairs Minister's Instruction No.53 and 54/2021 and Transportation Ministry circular.
