Police Nab 5 Panderers in Prostitution Ring at Jakarta Apartment

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Metro Jaya Police have once again exposed a prostitution ring involving teens and minors at the South Jakarta apartment Kalibata City. The raid that was conducted on Sunday, police arrested 5 who acted as panderers offering the service of 2 teenage girls.
“They were offered, exploited, sexually or economically with each having a tariff between Rp250,000 up to Rp750,000,” said the South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Grand Commissioner Azis Andriansyah on Thursday, October 14.
Azis revealed that police managed to expose the prostitution syndicate after one of the victim’s parents reported to the police that their child had not returned home since June this year. Police conducted an investigation and managed to trackdown the teen at the Kalibata City Apartment in early October.
Police came across the teenager’s name in a list of female prostitutes offered by a panderer through the MiChat app. The five panderers now face criminal charges for prostitution and can be imprisoned for up to 15 years.
In the October 3 raid, police found the victim along with five people acting as the teen’s panderer in one of the apartment’s rooms.
According to the teen deceived into prostitution, she was unaware that she was being sold by the suspects as the victim and panderer’s relathionship started as couples. But in September, one of the suspects offered her the job. In that month alone the victim had sexual intercourse 17 times with customers and was only given Rp50-Rp150 thousand fee for every encounter.
