TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 688,800 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which is a French donation to Indonesia through the COVAX facility, will arrive on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

Between September 10 and October 2, as many as 3,163,540 doses of vaccine were delivered by France to Indonesia in four separate shipments, either through the COVAX facility or through bilateral channels. The four vaccine donations are a follow-up to President Emmanuel Macron's announcement, last August 4, that as a form of solidarity in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, 3 million doses of vaccine will be donated by France to Indonesia.

The delivery of the fifth AstraZeneca vaccine, totaling 688,800 doses through the COVAX facility which will arrive today in Jakarta, will increase the number of vaccine doses donated from France to close to 4 million doses, to support the vaccination campaign carried out by the Government of Indonesia.

The COVAX facility was established with the support of the European Union, including France, to ensure equitable access to a safe, effective and WHO-approved COVID-19 vaccine.

Donating vaccine doses is critical and has proven to be the only effective short-term response to support worldwide delivery of vaccines.

France continues to accompany Indonesia in its efforts to combat the COVID-19 outbreak.
