TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday is scheduled to inaugurate Megawati Soekarnoputri as the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) steering board at the State Palace in Central Jakarta.
This was confirmed by the Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono in a statement today. However, he did not confirm other BRIN members to be present at the inauguration.
The inauguration of the former Indonesian president and chairperson of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is mentioned in the Presidential Regulation No. 33/2021 overseeing BRIN, which was ratified on April 28, 2021 and passed into a law on the same day.
Article 5 of the regulation states that the BRIN steering board will be held by elements from the Agency for Pancasila Ideology Education (BPIP), which has its steering board led by Megawati Soekarnoputri.
