TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Four members of the Samosir Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) have filed lawsuits against the PDIP chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri and secretary general Hasto Kristiyanto at the Balige District Court.

The plaintiffs, Saut Martua Tamba (DPRD Samosir), Renaldi Naibaho, Harry Jono Situmorang, and Romauli Panggabean, have filed the lawsuit after PDIP terminated them from Party membership and DPRD in April 2021.

PDIP argued that the four of them were fired after they failed to do their job in helping Samosir Regent-candidate in the regional head election back in December 2020.

“We do not accept the fact that PDIP management thinks we were not serious in endorsing candidates Rapidin Simbolon - Juan Sinaga. We worked hard to help him win the election,” said Renaldi Naibaho to Tempo on October 6.

Following their official termination letter in April, Renaldi and his colleagues attempted to meet Party leaders and report their situation to the Party’s court of law and provide their side of the story. But until August, they were not given the opportunity to do so.

“We were never summoned by them, and unfortunately we decided to file lawsuits against Bu Mega (Megawati) and the secretary general at the Balige district court,” said Naibaho.
