TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A football match between the host region against West Java officially kickstarts the 20th National Games (PON) in Papua at the Mandala Jayapura Stadium on Monday. PON officials announced that it permits physical fan attendance under a 25 percent maximum capacity.
Head of the PON football executive committee Rocky Bebena said the limited number of fans attendance adheres to the circular from the Sports and Youth Ministry on September 22. Apart from limiting 25 percent capacity, only vaccinated people are permitted to enter the stadium.
“Viewers can watch the game live at the stadium but are restricted to a certain number due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Bebana, Antaranews reported.
With this, only around 5,000 sports fans are permitted to enter the 18,000-capacity stadium by purchasing tickets via online purchase or offline. Fans who meet the requirement will have to be tested for Covid-19 (antigen), body-temperature tested, and mandated to always wear a face mask in order to enjoy the first game in the 20th PON in Papua.
