TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has received 1.23 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine donated by France. The vaccines arrived at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Thursday, September 23.

This is the third batch of AstraZeneca donations from France to Indonesia—3 million doses in total—announced by President Emmanuel Macron in August.

The vaccine assistance was provided through the COVAX global vaccine scheme mechanism.

The first shipment of 358,700 doses arrived on September 10. The second was for 968,000 doses, which came September 16.

President Macron previously stressed the importance of international solidarity among developed countries to share doses with the 92 countries part of COVAX AMC. At least 100 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine from Europe will be distributed throughout 2021.

France's contribution to the COVAX program is part of the European Team's global effort to ensure solidarity. France continues to accompany Indonesia in its efforts to combat Covid-19, the French Embassy said in a statement.
