The Governor of the Bangka Belitung (Babel) Islands, Erzaldi Rosman, during the Covid-19 vaccine.

TEMPO.CO, Belitung, Babel - The Belitung District Health Office, Bangka Belitung Islands Province, confirmed that COVID-19 vaccination, as of Friday (September 17), had been administered to 50.85 percent of the total targeted population in the district.

"A total of 72,233 people out of the targeted 142,065 people in Belitung have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine," Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) of the Belitung Health Office, Joko Sarjono, informed in Tanjung Pandan, Saturday.

According to Sarjono, out of the 72,233 people vaccinated against COVID-19, some 31,539 had received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, or 22.20 percent of the total targeted population.

"From this figure, it can be seen that half of the target population had been vaccinated against COVID-19, but we continue to expedite the achievement of herd immunity by continuing to conduct vaccinations," he remarked.

Sarjono noted that 1,518 health workers had been administered the COVID-19 vaccine.

In the elderly target group, 4,273 people had received the vaccine, while for public service officers, 12,204 people had been vaccinated.

Moreover, 2,494 vulnerable people, such as pre-elderly adults and mentally ill people, have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Furthermore, vaccination for the general public was administered to 37,466 people, or 50.22 percent, while 11,200 teenagers, or 68.76 percent, were inoculated. For pregnant women, vaccination was administered to 204 recipients, or 18.53 percent of the pregnant women prioritized in the district.

"We continue to implement and improve vaccination in order to achieve herd immunity to thwart the spread of COVID-19," he remarked.

He appealed to residents that had not participated in the COVID-19 vaccination to immediately register for vaccination at several health facilities provided in the area.
