TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The civil coalition established an emergency office of corruption eradication as a form of disappointment over the recent performance of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The office was symbolically opened up in front of the Anti-Corruption Learning Center Building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, or the old KPK building.

Former Deputy Chairperson of KPK Saut Situmorang, who is a representative of the civil coalition from the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH Jakarta), and a number of KPK employees who were dismissed through the civic knowledge test (TWK) including Novel Baswedan were present at the event.

“What we do is in line with President Jokowi's mental revolution program. The top point of mental revolution is integrity,” Saut said during the event on Wednesday, September 15. He added that 57 KPK employees who were dismissed were not job beggars but people who fight for justice.

In this emergency office, people are allowed to leave a letter to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, asking the state head to cancel the dismissal of the KPK employees. The emergency office will be open every Tuesday and Friday from 16:00-17:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

On the same day as the emergency office was established, the KPK announced the dismissal of employees who failed to pass the TWK as of September 30, 2021. There were a total of 56 employees and one other who had entered retirement.
