TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta government has yet to determine the reopening of cinemas during the level 3 community activity restrictions or PPKM Level 3 that has been relaxed. The city's acting head of the tourism and creative economy department, Gumilar Ekalaya, said that they're still waiting for the instruction of Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian.

"The Jakarta Provincial Government will follow the policies of the central government," he said in his written statement on late Monday, September 13.

The central government has set the extension of the PPKM on September 14-20. Jakarta is still in PPKM Level 3. The new regulations following the relaxed covid-19 restriction will be stipulated in the Decree of the Home Affairs Ministry and Jakarta Governor. One of the new rules is permitting cinema operations.

The coordinator of Java-Bali PPKM, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said that the reopening of movie theaters is only allowed in areas under the level 3 and level 2 restrictions. The requirements are the cinemas must impose 50 percent maximum capacity, implement strict health protocols, and use PeduliLindung application as a screening tool.

"Only areas in green category that may enter the cinema reopening," he said Monday.
