TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts Jakarta and three other locations will face potential landslides and floods based on impact-based forecasts (IBF).

The BMKG deputy of meteorology Guswanto in a written statement on Tuesday that “flash floods or landslides from extreme weather will remain at alert level until September 15.”

The warning for the Capital City is effective from September 13 up to September 15. The other three regions that could see these natural disasters are the provinces of Banten, West Java, and East Java.

The agency forecasts heavy rain to downpour over four provinces during September 13-20, 2021, as the BMKG has detected Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) activities, equatorial rossby waves, and kelvin waves across Indonesian regions for the next week.
