5 Provinces Log Vaccination Coverage Below National Target: Health Ministry

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government’s latest report found 41 million supplies of Covid-19 vaccine doses have yet been administered to vaccinate the population, which made the Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin publicly urge regional governments to accelerate their local mass vaccinations.
“The President has instructed for the completion of the 41 million doses that have been distributed to every province,” said the minister on September 13.
In total, Indonesia has received 169 million vaccine doses with 157 already distributed from the central government to regional governments. The Health Minister said 9 million are on their way to Indonesia while an additional 3 million will be placed as national back-up.
“There are 116 million doses that have been administered in regions and 41 million that have not,” he added.
He asserts that President Joko Widodo ordered a quicker vaccination for regions that are logging a coverage below 20 percent which consists of Lampung (15 percent), West Sumatra (18 percent), North Maluku (18 percent), and Papua (19 percent).
