TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali earned top ten spots of safest airports in Southeast Asia for Covid-19 health and safety measures, according to Safe Travel Barometer. The international airport is in the eighth position with a Safe Travel Score of 3.5 out of 5.

Safe Travel Barometer is an independent global institution that assesses health and safety protocol implementation standards of world airlines.

“Amid the pandemic situations, we are committed to prioritizing the implementation of strict health protocols. We thank all stakeholders of the airport community for the joint synergy, collaboration, and hard work thus far,” said the state-run airport operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) President Director Faik Fahmi on Wednesday, September 8.

The assessment was based on various parameters, from the airport’s facilities for checking the health condition of passengers, safety protocols, officers, up to the Covid-19 test facility.

Faik explained that during the adaptation period to the new normal era, his side had implemented a number of service innovations, such as online customer service in order to minimize the risk of virus transmission, thermal scanners, touchless-contactless toll gates, cashless parking payment system, UV sterilizers, as well as cashless payment system services.

Those services, Faik went on, had been applied at airports under the management of AP I, including I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali.
