Earthquake Jolts Bali, Maluku This Morning: BMKG

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency or BMKG announced that an earthquake jolted Bali Island this morning, September 8, at 07:24 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The quake was centered on land, nine kilometers northwest of Karangasem. The agency reported that it was measured at a magnitude of 3.2 and originated from a depth of 10 kilometers.
The tremor was felt in Karangasem at level III of the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) scale. The shaking was felt quite noticeably by people indoors and was similar to the passing of a truck.
“There have been no reports of damage and aftershock,” said the agency’s earthquake and tsunami mitigation coordinator Daryono via his Twitter account.
The BMKG also reported a stronger earthquake in Maluku this morning at 7:13 WIB. However, the 5.0 magnitude quake was categorized as an unnoticeable one. Its epicenter was in the sea, 89 kilometers northeast of Southwest Maluku, at a depth of 147 kilometers. The quake also had no potential to trigger a tsunami.
