BMKG Issues Weather Forecast: Beware of Potential Flood in South, East Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early weather alert for potential flooding in South Jakarta and East Jakarta today, September 7.

“Be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta areas between noon and evening. Be aware of the potential for flooding in the South and East Jakarta areas,” as quoted from the agency’s official website on Tuesday, September 7.

The agency also predicted that the entire capital area will be cloudy this morning.

Rain has the potential to flush all city areas with varying intensities on Tuesday afternoon. West Jakarta and Central Jakarta are predicted to have rain with moderate intensity. Thunderstorms will hit South Jakarta, while heavy rain will fall in East Jakarta. North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands will likely see light rain.

At night, light rain will possibly fall in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, and East Jakarta. Meanwhile, North Jakarta and the Thousand Islands will be cloudy.

Rain will also shower Jakarta’s neighboring regions, namely Bogor, Depok, and Bekasi this afternoon. Bekasi Regency and City as well as Depok City will be hit by light rain, while Bogor Regency has a chance to see moderate-intensity rain. BMKG predicted thunderstorms in Bogor city.
