TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Health Ministry has launched a new feature in its website that allows the general public to independently monitor available Covid-19 vaccine supplies in real time that are spread across the country’s healthcare facilities which will allow for better transparency.

The previous version of the website only showed vaccine status and Covid-19 situation in general. The current version can be accessed at vaksin.kemkes.go.id. which gives better control towards the public.

This comes as an improvement especially following controversial incidents that grabbed national headlines on State Officials receiving vaccine booster shots even though this is supposed to be limited to healthcare workers.

According to the head of the national Covid-19 vaccination program, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, the data showcased in the website is based on the vaccine reports from the field and the logistics of the vaccination that utilizes bio tracking and Electronic Immunization and Logistics Monitoring System (SMILE).

The SMILE platform is able to gather real time data on vaccine distribution and its details such as the vial’s batch, expiration date, and where the vaccines are kept.
