TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Pandjaitan on Monday reminded people to always spread factual information regarding Covid-19 to help reduce the mortality rate caused by the pandemic.

He specifically warned people against using the pandemic as a means to spread other agendas, Bisnis.com reported.

“Don’t relate the issue with politics, ethnicities, religion, or even economic status. This is our collective enemy,” said the minister as published at the ministry’s website on August 29. “Believe us that we are doing our best because we have the best teams.”

In his statement, Luhut also called for the help of retired military and police personnel to help disseminate information regarding the handling of Covid-19 which he said is needed to reduce the transmission rate.

He also addressed the Covid-19 vaccination rate that the government continues to push in order to reach the goal of inoculating more than 2 million people daily by adding the number of healthcare workers and the mobilization of medical students who are in the final semesters.

“Our goal is to control the Covid-19 pandemic. We must reduce the reproduction rate within Indonesia’s population,” said Luhut Pandjaitan.
