TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said the provincial government will resume the back-to-school trials starting Monday, August 30. According to Riza, 610 schools will participate in holding trials of face-to-face learning at schools.

“[The schools] had previously carried out the trials. So we will resume it as before. [Schools] will be opened gradually, inshallah all of them in January,” said Riza at the City Hall, Wednesday night, August 26.

According to him, the trials will last for a week. Of the 610 schools, 85 schools had participated in the limited trials of the blended learning system on April 7, 138 schools had participated in trial phase 1 of the blended learning system on June 9, and the rest 372 schools will join for the first time.

Governor Anies Baswedan previously issued Decree No. 1026 of 2021 concerning the level 3 public mobility restrictions or PPKM Level 3. It is noted that limited face-to-face classes are allowed following the relaxed restrictions in accordance with the Joint Decree of the Education and Culture Minister, Religious Affairs Minister, Health Minister, and Home Affairs Minister.

However, Anies Baswedan said schools must be careful in holding face-to-face learning. “Safety is fundamental,” he underlined, adding that Jakarta Education Agency is studying the reopening of schools amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
