TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin in Wednesday’s House Hearing said the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will arrive in Indonesia next month under the Dutch Government grant.

“We will be welcoming the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, a grant from the Netherlands. It should have already arrived but shifted to the following month,” said Minister Budi Gunadi in the meeting with the House's Commission IX members on August 25.

He said that this vaccine brand will only need a single dose, unlike other vaccines that need two doses to establish sufficient immunity for the recipient. But Budi did not detail the exact doses of the vaccine Indonesia would recievd and date of its arrival.

J&J claimed that their Covid-19 vaccine is 66 percent effective against the new coronavirus variants. This brand was once removed from a number of countries due to cases of blood clotting but is now redistributed in European countries and the United States. The EMA deemed that the benefits of the vaccine outweighs its risk of blood clotting.

Minister Budi Gunadi that Indonesia will see arrivals of more Covid-19 vaccines from Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Sinovac in September. It would likely add the total dosage to 80 million.
