TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Ministry Secretary-General Heru Pambudi in a virtual event on Monday announced the arrival of five million doses of Sinovac vaccine at Soekarno-Hatta Airport that increases Indonesia’s total supply of COVID-19 vaccines to over 200 million.

“The arrival of five million doses of ready-to-use Sinovac vaccine has increased the total number of vaccines Indonesia has received to over 200 million, both in ready-to-use and bulk forms,” Heru said on Monday, August 23.

He also noted that the President had ordered a daily target of two million doses “which with the help of many people can be achieved by the end of this month,” Antaranews reported.

From the budget side, the Finance Ministry has allocated Rp57.75 trillion to fund the nationwide COVID-19 vaccinations and urged Indonesians to get their share of vaccine shots and help the government achieve herd immunity.

So far, official records showed 31 million Indonesians have received the complete two-dose vaccination against COVID-19 while another 57 million have received the first dose.

“Out of the initial goal of 208 million people to build herd immunity, this means we still have a task of vaccinating 150 million people,” said Heru.
