TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Health Ministry’s Covid-19 spokesperson, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, on Saturday announced that the government is set to vaccinate three groups of people eligible for the 8 million Covid-19 Moderna vaccine doses Indonesia received from the COVAX facility.
The first group will certainly be distributed to Indonesian healthcare workers as vaccine boosters while the second group will be pregnant women.
“Not just healthcare workers, the Moderna vaccine is also for the public, especially pregnant women and people with comorbidities who have not been vaccinated,” Siti Nadia wrote in a statement on August 14.
Her statement refers to the Health Minister’s circular No.HK.02.01/I/1919/2021 that makes the current Moderna batch eligible for use for healthcare workers who will receive vaccine boosters according to the previous brand of vaccine they received.
As for members of the public who have not been vaccinated with Covid-19, the spokesperson said complete Moderna vaccinations will be given with a four-week gap between injections. Whereas vaccinations for pregnant women have started from August 2 and are highly recommended for pregnant women residing in covid red zones.
