TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said the government was still revising the environmental impact analysis (Amdal) documents of the Integrated Tourism Master Plan (ITMP) of the Komodo National Park for immediate submission to UNESCO.

“So, we will quickly and meticulously work on the revisions in tandem with related ministries, institutions and parties for approval from IUCN and UNESCO,” Sandiaga said in a virtual press conference on Monday, August 9, 2021.

He said UNESCO had pegged a deadline for the submission of the revised Amdal and other pertinent documents concerning the ITMP of the Komodo National Park on February 22, 2022 at the World Heritage Centre.

Among the evaluation points from the UNESCO was that it called the Indonesian government for detailed information on the ITMP of the Komodo National Park so as to avert negative impact on the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) of the Komodo National Park as a world natural heritage.

UNESCO also appealed to the Indonesian government to temporarily postpone the ITMP project, pending the approval of the revised Amdal from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
