TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Covid-19 Task Force said that the bed occupancy ratio (BOR) across 14 provinces has been on a downward trend over the past two weeks. This comes in line with the declining number of new infections and active cases.

The Task Force's spokesman, Wiku Adisasmito, said that the most significant BOR decline in the last week is in Jakarta with 21.55 percent, followed by Banten with 20,57 percent.

"I praise this achievement, as it means that the local governments were able to lessen the burdens of hospital workers," Wiku said in a written statement, August 4.

Nation-wide, the weekly BOR had soared to 77.07-percent on July 11. Slowly, the rate began to decline, reaching 61.95 in the past week.

The BOR decline came with the sloping numbers of active cases in the last two weeks.

"A real-time drop can be seen at the BOR of Wisma Atlet, which is currently at 31.34 percent capacity," Wiku remarked.

Nevertheless, the Task Force is concerned about Covid-19 developments outside Java and Bali. The BOR in some provinces of Sumatera, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi are increasing.

In Java, Yogyakarta has shown no decline in cases. Meanwhile, Bali's daily cases are declining, but there have been no improvement in active cases and bed occupancy rate.
