TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The occupancy rate of isolation beds for Covid-19 patients in Jakarta continued to drop. The city administration recorded 69 percent or 8,073 beds of the total capacity of 11,743 were occupied as of July 26.

One day earlier, July 25, 73 percent or 8,632 beds were occupied by patients. Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria appealed to the people to remain disciplined in complying with the health protocols despite the decline in the bed occupancy rate.

“The relaxed restrictions aim at reviving the economy, not public discipline [to health orders],” said Riza to Tempo on Tuesday night, July 27.

Meanwhile, 1,469 ICU rooms were filled as of July 26. The occupancy rate reached 90 percent of the total capacity of 1,634 units.

The figure increased compared to data as of July 25, where the occupancy rate was 89 percent or 1,454 out of 1,626 ICU rooms occupied by patients.

The drop in the occupancy rate of isolation beds, Riza went on, was attributable to the public discipline in carrying out the health protocols against Covid-19 according to the government recommendation. “This is a major factor in the decline in the number of cases which has impacts on the decreasing BOR.”
