TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir on Monday expressed hope for state-pharmaceutical firm Bio Farma to ensure the arrivals and distributions of Covid-19 vaccines. He also hopes that Indonesia will realize the homegrown 'merah putih' vaccine next year.

“Because we cannot depend on imported vaccines. The goal is next year. We shouldn’t spend too long importing vaccines,” said Erick Thohir in a public discussion held virtually on July 12.

The Minister believes SOEs must be able to ensure that the supply chain of medicines for hospital facilities will remain safe. During the event, he encouraged state enterprises to improve the transportation and logistic aspects during the pandemic.

Despite 90 percent of State-owned enterprises are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, he assures that the goal set by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on SOEs transformation continues to be worked on.
