TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Yudha Adhi Oetomo plans to report Doctor Lois Owien to the Jakarta Metro Police today, July 12, following the doctor's controversial remark about Covid-19 that has gone viral online.
"Her remarks could cause public unrest. Therefore we will file a police report against her with the Metro Police," Yudha's lawyer Pitra Ramdhoni said on Monday, July 12.
Pitra said that Lois Owien will be reported for allegedly violating Articles 14 and 15 of Law 1/1946 on [spreading] uncertainties that can cause trouble among the public.
When appearing as guest at a Talk Show hosted by Hotman Paris, Lois said that Covid-19 is not a virus, and patients have died because of drug interactions or complications.
Her statement received many rebuttals from doctors and associations, such as the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) and the Medical Ethics Code Council (MKEK). The MKEK is also planning to summon Lois to question her accountability over what she said.
