Australia to Send $12mn Medical Aid Package to Covid-stricken Indonesia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Australia will be sending assistance for Indonesia amid to battle the Covid-19 pandemic. In a written statement, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne said she had prepared Au$12 million in the form of medical aid package.
"Today I spoke with my friend and counterpart, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, and confirmed immediate health support to Indonesia," Payne said in a press release on Wednesday, July 7.
The Au$12 million package includes the procurement of oxygen supplies and other medical equipment, including 1,000 ventilators, 700 oxygen concentrators, more than 170 oxygen tanks, as well as other medical supplies.
Payne said the package also includes over 40,000 rapid-antigen test kits and 2.5 million AstraZeneca vaccine doses, which will be distributed in 2021.
The Australian support is expected to help Indonesia extend its rapid testing capacity, maintain existing health services, and assist with emergency medical facilities amid growing concerns over escalating numbers of daily cases.
