TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, on Thursday, July 1, announced that all public activities in shopping centers, malls, and trading hubs will be temporarily banned during the Covid-19 emergency PPKM or emergency public activity restriction.
“No malls will be open [until July 20] and we surely hope we can reduce [daily confirmed cases] below 10,000,” said the Coordinating minister who has been appointed to lead the PPKM.
Supermarkets, traditional markets, and grocery stores that sell products for daily needs are only permitted to open until 20:00 with visitors’ capacity restricted to 50 percent. However, pharmacies and drug stores are excluded from this policy and are permitted to open 24 hours.
Luhut Pandjaitan elaborated that restaurants and derivative businesses in the food and beverage industry are not permitted to offer in-dining and are only limited to takeaways and deliveries.
Reported earlier today, President Jokowi announced the enforcement of a stricter public mobility restriction touted as the emergency PPKM which will be effective from July 3 to 20.
