TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Monday said he intended to repackage the Indonesian coffee scene as a national themed tour that would better expose each Indonesian region’s traditional coffee origins.

He believed that the thematic tour package will be an effective strategy for regional tourism.

“Amidst the pandemic, this has become even more relevant as tourists yearn for authentic outdoor attractions, in a small group, and is more meaningful,” said Sandiaga Uno on June 28.

He said that Indonesia has already established the themed tour such as the coffee tour in Bali Catur Village, which is hoped to give tourists a genuine experience.

"So they can also enjoy the aspects surrounding a coffee plantation such as the mountainous scenery, harvesting activities, coffee bean roasting, and the history and culture of a certain location," Sandiaga Uno said, hoping that such a tour program will become a national tourism trademark.

Therefore, the tourism ministry initiated the development of Indonesian coffee trail that will expand across regions from the most-western region of Sabang to Merauke.
