TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An entire housing complex in Bekasi Regency is on lockdown after 103 residents tested positive for Covid-19. The Covid-19 Task Force implemented the micro lockdown at the Bumi Cikarang Makmur Housing Estate, located in Sukadami Village, South Cikarang District.
The Bekasi Resort Police chief, Sr. Comr. Hendra Gunawan, said that the housing cluster was found after the police and the health department held a mass test.
"We proceeded by taking appropriate steps," Hendra told reporters in Cikarang, Wednesday, June 23.
He said that the 103 people who tested positive for the coronavirus are located in 13 community units (RT) in neighborhood associations (RW) 14. They have been taken to two hotels serving as isolation wards, hospitals, and some are in self-quarantine at their homes. The police are in charge of their needs during home isolation.
"We locked down an entire RW, and we prepared things for the residents, including rice," Hendra said.
Following the lockdown, the 500 residents who tested negative for the virus were immediately given vaccine injections at a public school building.
As shown in pikokabsi.bekasikab.go.id, Bekasi Regency's cases continue to rise. Right now, there are 2,038 active cases, while the local hospitals only have around 1,200 beds.
