Indonesia COVID-19 Cases Surpass Two Million with 14,536 New Cases Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia keeps recording new positive cases of COVID-19 as the government accelerated its mass vaccination. As of Monday at 12:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), there were 14,536 new cases over the last 24 hours.

The country’s total caseload now reaches 2,004,445 since the first cases of coronavirus disease were discovered on March 2, 2020.

Meanwhile, the number of patients recovered from the disease increased by 9,233, bringing the total to 1,801,761. It is also reported that 294 more patients succumbed to the disease today. Thus, the death toll amounted to 54,956.

In addition to positive cases, the government is monitoring 124,845 people who are suspected of being infected with SARS-CoV-2. The government also examined 74,158 specimens related to the virus today

This information was delivered by the National COVID-19 Task Force, and the data are accessible to the public at Covid19.go.id.

Earlier today, the chairman of the COVID-19 Handling and National Economic Recovery Committee (KEC-PEN) Airlangga Hartarto announced that the government decided to tighten the enforcement of the micro-scale community activity restriction or Micro PPKM. Shopping malls, markets, restaurants, cafes, and other public places must only open until 8 p.m.
