TEMPO.CO, Bekasi - Bekasi Mayor Rahmat Effendi said the bed occupancy rate (BOR) in all hospitals continued to rise along with the surge in Covid-19 cases. The latest data shows that 56 percent of the 1,706 hospital isolation beds have been occupied.

“The hospital BOR is 56 percent, it's still safe,” said Rahmat in Bekasi on Monday, June 14.

Compared to the previous week's data, the hospital bed occupancy rate increased by 21 percent from 35 percent. In fact, the rate in Bekasi City had reached its lowest level at 15 percent during the enforcement of the community activity restrictions or PPKM.

“Based on our investigation, it turns out that most cases are from outside the region,” said Rahmat.

For example, the regional Covid-19 task force detected that residents in Taman Harapan Baru residential complex, Medansatria, tested positive after joining gatherings outside Bekasi. When the task force held a massive examination, 26 cases were found. The latest data revealed that there were 47 positive cases in the housing complex.

“We strengthen the tracking. Hopefully, it’s enough to cut [virus transmission],” said Rahmat.

The Bekasi government continued to enforce a micro-lockdown in the area to help officers from the community health centers (Puskesmas) to track cases.

“I have asked two heads of Puskesmas in the sub-district to enforce a lockdown. We also strengthen tracking,” Rahmat added.

As reported on the Bekasi Covid-19 official page corona.bekasikota.go.id, the region has now had 45,736 positive cases, with 1,025 active cases. Of the figure, 44,127 patients have recovered and 584 patients succumbed to the illness.
