TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government is continuing the pilot project of face-to-face learning at 226 schools starting today, June 9, 2021. The first stage of the trial was held on April 7-29.

The city’s Education Agency spokesman, Taga Radja Gah, said the trial for on-site studies was resumed in more schools as the first stage of the trial yielded good results. This means, there were no cases of Covid-19 transmission in schools joining the pilot program.

“Schools, teachers, and students also show high enthusiasm [over the school reopening],” said Taga to Tempo on Wednesday, June 9.

The Education Agency, he added, ensured all teachers and staffers in schools implementing the trial have been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus disease.

If the implementation of the second trial of the face-to-face learning succeeds, the Jakarta administration planned to hold a new normal learning program on July 15, 2021, as in line with President Joko Widodo or Jokowi’s order. “But still under strict health protocols,” Taga said.

Previously reported, Jokowi said on June 7 that limited face-to-face learning at schools is allowed to be held two days a week with a maximum study time of two hours amid concerns over Covid-19 transmission.
