TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, in his visit to the Greater Jakarta LRT (LRT Jabodetabek) construction site claimed that the mega transportation project is handled by an all-Indonesian consortium.

“It is all being constructed in Indonesia,” said the President in his visit to the LRT Harjamukti station in Cibubur, Depok, West Java on June 9.

The companies responsible for the construction are Kereta LRT from state-owned PT INKA, operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), and PT Adhi Karya Tbk as the contractor.

He believes the experience from a major construction like this is what Indonesia needs to build a foundation in constructing similar transportation infrastructures overseas in the future.

Jokowi voiced his hope of exporting the LRT project to other countries as Indonesia has already exported trains to Bangladesh and the Philippines.
