TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) commander Hadi Tjahjanto delivered the concern of a future cyber attack during his speech in the opening of the seminar on national cyber resources on Thursday.

“For nearly a decade, this issue of cyberwar constantly gets buzzed and is foreseen to cause tension between countries that will have an affect on world peace,” the TNI commander noted which was read by Insp. Gen. Bambang Suswanto on May 27 as cited from Antaranews.

He noted that state-funded cyber attacks have happened numerous times in the international stage, which he called a "test phase."

The TNI commander assumed that the real war is both prepared and being anticipated by several countries. He, therefore, asserted the importance of establishing cyber defence teams in Indonesia’s security forces, as many countries have introduced cyber teams within their security forces.

“This indicates that each country in the world must be able to develop its cyber defenses to fight against threats,” said the message from Hadi Tjahjanto.

The TNI itself has already established a cyber unit (Satsiber) that is mainly tasked to create cyber defences that could respond to threats from overseas.
