TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police found 276 residents to be reactive to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the past five days upon their return from their hometowns to celebrate the Eid al-Fitr festivity.

"The number of those reactive to or found positive for (COVID-19) reaches 276," Chief of the Public Relations Section at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Senior Commissioner Yusri Yunus stated here on Friday.

The figure was based on the results of antigen swab tests at 14 checkpoints and police precincts under the jurisdiction of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, he remarked.

Yunus noted that 210 of the 276 residents had conducted self-isolation, 65 were referred to the Wisma Atlet COVID-19 Emergency Hospital, while the rest were referred to isolation facilities outside the jurisdiction of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police has established 14 checkpoints to check COVID-19-free certificates and provide free antigen swab tests.

If returning Eid al-Fitr holiday makers do not hold COVID-19-free certificates upon return from their hometowns, they will be requested to undergo antigen swab tests at the checkpoints.

If they test negative for COVID-19, they will be allowed to continue their journey to the capital. However, if they test positive for the coronavirus disease, they will be taken to Wisma Atlet for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab tests.

The Jakarta Metropolitan Police will launch operations to check the returning Eid al-Fitr holiday makers until May 24, 2021, under the endeavors to stem the transmission of COVID-19 during the Eid al-Fitr holidays.
