TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Health Ministry spokesperson for the Covid-19 handling, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said millions of doses of Novavax and Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines were expected to arrive in Indonesia in July 2021.

“There will be around 4 million doses of Novavax and 5 million doses of Pfizer in July 2021. But it is still an estimation for Pfizer,” Siti Nadia told Antara via a phone call on Wednesday evening, May 19, 2021.

Siti Nadia said the Health Ministry would prioritize the use of the Novavax and Pfizer vaccines for the third phase of the government's vaccination program targeting the elderly, public service workers, and vulnerable groups.

In the third phase, the government targeted administering vaccines to 140 million people in those predetermined groups.

The first group is people who live in areas with high numbers of Covid-19 cases or areas with continuously rising positive cases with no signs of declining.

The second group is people who are vulnerable from economic and social aspects, such as poor people or those with disabilities or mental disorders.

Siti Nadia confirmed that Novavax and Pfizer vaccines imported from the United States would not be used in the private vaccination program or the so-called Gotong Royong vaccine program which has been rolling since Tuesday, May 18.

Novavax and Pfizer vaccines are set for the government’s program and are definitely different from vaccines used in the Gotong Royong program, namely Sinopharm and CanSino vaccines,” Siti Nadia concluded.
